TEEN DANCE COMPANY MISSION STATEMENT

Founded in 1999, Teen Dance Company of the Bay Area's mission is to provide young dancers with a comprehensive artistic education that fosters excellence in technical performance, freedom in artistic creation, a greater awareness of dance as an intrinsic form of human expression, and a deeper understanding of the cultural impact of arts.

TEEN DANCE COMPANY PATH & GOALS

Teen Dance Company (TDC) is a unique, auditioned-based, pre-professional dance company for pre-teen and teens, offering rigorous training and extensive performance experience in all styles of dance.

The goal is to develop dancers who possess technical proficiency, creative liberty, a prospective on aesthetics, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the artistic self. Further it is the organizations desire to re-define the prospective of youth and teen artistry in society.

The Company has commissioned works from noted choreographers, including Mia Michaels, Gary Masters, Stacey Printz, Jenny Backhaus, William Lu, Tye Gillespie, Jason Parsons, Jen Hechtle-Bradford, Tabitha & Napoleon D'Uomo, Barry Youngblood and Carlos Jones. TDC appearances include: Bay Area Celebrates National Dance Week, the professional division of Palm Desert Choreographers Showcase, Vision Series, and Jazz Dance World Congress (Costa Rica).

With state-of-the-art facilities located in Mountain View, CA, TDC is an organization that serves highly skilled teen and pre-teen dancers. The Company (TDC), its apprentices (TDC II) hail from the various cities in the San Francisco Bay Area.

A non-profit corporation, TDC is funded by individual donations, grants from private foundations and ticket sales.

Dancers are offered extensive training in ballet, modern, contemporary, Pilates and tap, plus access to professionals from around the Bay Area for master classes.
